Ret. Senior Sales Consultant, Ivory Homes
Tony began his career in 1971, at IBM, after obtaining a degree from University of California Berkeley Computer Science. For Tony, working at IBM at the beginning of the computer era was great, from the days of programming with plug to wire, to cards and then coding. He ended up working on the development of the Point-of-Sale (POS) software and later was moved into the sales of that software for the grocery industry. Tony retired after a 30 plus year career and he quickly become bored. Having had a long career with Ivory Homes selling mostly upper-end custom homes, he was intrigued to learn more about this new place providing hospice care for the homeless. He had been reading articles in the newspaper and had to find out more. His first interactions were as a volunteer who started buying paper goods and then food for The INN Between’s Thanksgiving dinner. In October 2020, he became a member of the Board of Directors. Later he was invited to serve on the Executive Board, and then was asked to be the Board Chair in January of 2021. When asked why he chose to volunteer at The INN Between, he said, “I cannot think of a more worthwhile cause to be involved with. What The INN Between does for those in need is a miracle, and I am extremely honored and proud to be part of such a great organization”.
