Chaplain David Pascoe, BCC

Director of Chaplain Community Life, Spiritual Care Association

Chaplain Pascoe retired from full time work in healthcare in December 2020. For the first half of his professional life, he held leadership positions in the computer industry in marketing, advertising, and public relations. In 2001, he left the corporate world to become Director of Marketing and Advancement at Salt Lake Theological Seminary. In 2007, he began his career in healthcare chaplaincy as a resident at the VA Medical Center in Salt Lake City Utah, where he completed 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education. He became board certified by the College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy in 2007, achieving advanced certification as a Clinical Fellow in Hospice and Palliative Care in 2014. In 2020, he joined the Spiritual Care Association, where he is a Board Certified Chaplain (retired) and Director of Chaplain Community Life.

During his early years in healthcare, Chaplain Pascoe worked as a hospice chaplain and bereavement coordinator. He was then hired as Pastoral Care Coordinator at Primary Children’s Hospital, the premier pediatric hospital and only level one trauma center for a five-state region of the Intermountain West. He also served as operations manager of the pediatric palliative care team at that facility for a period. Out of concern for the emotional wellbeing of his healthcare colleagues, he engaged in emotional support of staff and was instrumental in bringing the Schwartz Center Rounds to several hospitals in the state of Utah. For his contributions to patient, family, and staff support in pediatric care, Chaplain Pascoe received an award as The Schwartz Center’s National Compassionate Caregiver of the Year Finalist, 2016.
