The INN Between opened on August 17, 2015, bridging a longstanding gap in end-of-life housing for homeless individuals along the Wasatch Front. Our mission is to provide a safe and comfortable place where Utah's homeless men and women can experience the end of life with dignity, receive professional hospice services, and be surrounded by people who care. The INN Between can house up to 16 residents. We provide a "surrogate home" environment that enables homeless individuals to receive the same professional hospice care available to those of us who have a stable home.
The INN Between provides the basic needs such as meals, clothing, bedding, laundry, and personal hygeine items. Our small staff and team of over 50 volunteer "House Mates" go beyond the basic needs to provide companionship, emotional and spiritual support, music therapy, pet therapy, activities, acupuncture, reiki, massage, salon services and other services and therapies that improve quality of life while relieving pain and anxiety. We strive to reconnect our clients with estranges family members to mend old wounds before its too late.
After one of our residents dies, we write an obituary and post it on our website, hold a community memorial service, and place a name plaque on the memorial wall of our garden.
Prospective residents must be referred by a health care professional and have a diagnosis of terminal illness or a serious medical condition that cannot be effectively treated on the streets or in a shelter.
